This is part 2 of my last post. I’m not going to preface it with as much, read the first post to find out what’s going on, lazy. These are just my notes and explanations of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I know it might not seem like it, but I am a spiritual fiend. I am constantly reading anything I can on topics like this. Why? I don’t know. Maybe I’m searching for a loop-hole into Heaven? Maybe I’m just looking for something or someone to tell me I’m a good person. Most likely a combination of the two.
More after the jump:
The idea behind this book focuses on the impartial and impersonal Law of Attraction. You know, the thing I mentioned last post. The Law of Attraction is similar to the Law of Gravity. It cannot be manipulated. It does not play favorites. It just is and there is no gain for working against it, just more stress and difficulty. Life gets easier when you work with gravity or in this case attraction.
The main focus of this book is how to change your thought process. First, you have to know that every thought you have is a force and a real thing. Your thoughts aren’t imaginary. They are real things. To me, that is mind-blowing in itself.
You are constantly sending a frequency or vibrations out to the Universe with your thoughts. The Universe is always responding by saying “Your wish is my command.” In so many words, the Universe is like an evil genie or making a deal with the devil. The Universe doesn’t hear words like “can’t” or “don’t.” So if you say something like “I don’t want to be poor.” The Universe goes “Your wish is my command.” and POOF. You’re poor. You have to change this thought process to “I want to be rich.” Honestly, why focus on the negative or the problem? Just focus all of your attention on the solution. What would help you not be poor? Being rich is a nice solution. Focus your attention on that, dummy.
It really is as simple as that. Thoughts become things. Think about it. By that logic, your current life is a result of your past thoughts. If you are busy dwelling on the past or the future, you aren’t focusing on the present and therefore you are screwing up the world for your future self. Your mind shapes the world around you. Your very own personal world. Whether or not this is a good thing, is entirely up to you. You have the power to control how you live your life. So, what are you thinking about? Are you thinking that this whole book is bullshit and won’t do anything and I’ve lost my fucking mind? Well by the rules of The Secret, of course it won’t work. All current negativity is not who we are, it’s who we were. I think we should all just hop on the Positivity Train. Next stop, YOUR BRAIN! HA!
According to this book, we have roughly 60,000 thoughts per day. I don’t know the unit of measure for thoughts. Do they count repetitive thoughts? I have like 58,000 thoughts about Jennifer Lawrence naked and maybe 2,000 about how I can craft a new dick joke. Sometimes, I have one continuous thought. I start at “dogs wearing bow ties” and I end up with “Brianna Love gang bang.” I never remember how I got there, but there’s always a connection.
Apparently, a positive thought is about 100x’s stronger than a negative one. Again, I don’t know how they measure this. Do they have like a Brain-o-Meter? However, the negative thoughts tend to predominantly out-number the positive thoughts most of the time. That is the problem with the human brain. We are pessimistic and negative creatures by nature. I think in that fact, is where you find “the secret.” Positivity.
How can you tell what you are thinking, you ask? Easy. Emotions. Feelings. These are the window to the mind and soul. It is impossible to feel good and have negative thoughts and vice versa.
I know what a lot of people think about The Secret is “Okay, if I change my thoughts..how will I get rich? How will I find love? How will I be happy?” And my answer is that the “how” is not the focus of the book. It is not part of the creative process. It will come eventually. You need patience. They promise it and it’s that leap of faith that so many of us struggle with. It turns into so many other questions. “Why should I believe in that? How do you know for certain? How can I believe in something I can’t see or prove?” And my rebuttal is, what do you have to lose? You can’t see gravity, yet you believe it. Well, I see good things happen to good people and terrible things happen to awful, horrific people. Its the same damn concept.
If a car can make it from New York to California by only seeing 100-200 feet in front of it at a time can’t we, as humans, do that too? I know if a machine can do something, I can fucking do it. Fuck robots. Why do we have to know exactly where we are stepping to take the next step? Why can’t we just trust that we are making the right decision and maybe some higher power is guiding us?
I mentioned the creative process. If you do not know what that is, it is simple. First you ask. Then you believe. Then you receive. That’s it, folks. Ask and ye shall receive. Didn’t someone famous say that? People have the asking down. And they are ready to receive, yet they never truly hit that step 2 properly. Believe. Believe in yourself. Believe in the idea of something greater than ourselves guiding us in the right direction with signs that we interpret with our flawed eyes.
Another big factor to this whole process is gratitude. Many of us wake up everyday and are thankful for nothing. In the “Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace Wattles (1910), Gratitude is the longest chapter. We are supposed to focus on what we have and be thankful for it, not what we do not have. This keeps us humble and hungry for more. Saying “once I have a bank roll, everything else will fall into place” is the dumbest thing you could possibly say. Get happy, first. The money will come eventually if you have patience, self-control and discipline. That is why people say that money can’t buy happiness. You don’t become happy when you get rich, it is much easier to get happy and become rich.
How does one show gratitude? By giving, not sacrificing. (Note: There is a difference between giving and sacrificing). Sacrificing means “go without” and this causes future resentments. Meanwhile, giving implies there is a surplus or an overflow of something that you have. Giving feels good. Life is meant to be abundant. There is enough for everyone. When you sacrifice, you are enabling people to take that which you are sacrificing. For example, if you sacrifice your needs to satisfy the needs or another, they will take advantage of this and when you finally stop sacrificing they will feel as if they are entitled to something that they never had any right to. Meanwhile, you are resenting them for taking advantage of your kindness and sacrifice.
Now here is a personal message to a special someone, read it if you want.
If you rely on others to provide your happiness for you, and they don’t come through, whose fault is that? Especially when you have the ability to create your own happiness.
Sorry, that’s for someone who doesn’t like to talk to me often but reads the blog casually. I think I might…nah. Let’s not get into it, okay readers? Don’t be a dick.
This can also tie into the dating world. How? Miserable people won’t attract happy people for relationships. After reading this book, I honestly do not believe opposites attract. The Universe doesn’t work like that. It can’t work like that. Can it? Ah I don’t know. Now I’m confused. I’ll follow this line of logic, though. Miserable people will attract miserable people at best. At worst, they attract no one and continue with their misery. The Law of Attraction. Get it?
How much sense does it make for you to focus on the problem when you can be focusing on the solution? When you put it like that, focusing on the problem just seems silly, doesn’t it? Energy flows where attention goes. Speaking of which, we are made up of energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. We always have been and always will be. We will never not be. You are eternal energy and never forget that. We can all agree on that concept, right? So, I cannot fathom not being. Can you? I can’t even fathom not accomplishing anything I put my mind to when we break things down to the bare minimum like that.
As far as my review goes, I give both books an A+. I really enjoyed reading them. Quick and easy reads. I think 400 pages between the two of them? Maybe? Who cares. You could literally change your life on a lengthy plane trip. I highly suggest picking these books up and implementing them into your life. If you don’t believe that it works, well just look at it like the Bible. It just teaches you how to be a good person instead of the piece of demonshit that you currently are. Good day.
